Responsibilities and Expectations:

The Tulsa Service Center is looking for a Switchgear Repair Technician that will perform electrical testing, complete preventative maintenance and repairs of electrical switchgear and associated equipment, including but not limited to circuit breakers, bolted pressure switches, transformers (dry and liquid filled). Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret electrical single line, three line and control drawings.
  • Travel to/ from customer sites (field service).
  • Follow company procedures for requisitioning and charging materials and parts.
  • Repair and/or replace electronic components on associated power distribution equipment.
  • Verify repairs using various start-up testing procedures.
  • Operate specialized equipment, including but not limited to: megohmmeter, high-voltage insulation testers, megohmmeter, high-voltage insulation testers, multimeters, and other types of equipment.
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment.
  • Complete required paperwork and test reports for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Keep work area neat and clean.
  • Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Associate degree in electronics or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Ability to test solid-state protective relays desired.
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Strong business communication skills and ability to promote professional image.
  • Knowledge of principles of electricity, AC and DC motors and motor application.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English via verbal and written methods.
  • NETA and NISET certification preferred, but not required.
