Key Responsibilities and Expectations:

 

The Human Resources Generalist will report to the Canadian HR Director and will offer HR support to current locations in the Canadian Western region.  The person will also collaborate on various HR projects. This position is in Edmonton, Alberta. Responsibilities include:

          

Operations:       

  • Coordinate onboarding with managers.
  • Analyze a portion of training requirements, organize events, and follow training schedules.
  • Coach managers on the employee experience.
  • Manage the HR portion of the ISO certification.
  • Manage competency profiles.
  • Prepare HR documentation (disciplinary, terminations, communications…)
  • Conduct exit interviews and prepare statistics.
  • Assist in the annual merit increase process.

 

People, Operational, & Project Focus:

  • Aligned by site/business
  • Development role to become an HRBP
  • First point of contact for employees
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for HR Directors / HR BP’s
  • Execute employee experience design and delivery throughout the employee lifecycle
  • Partner with HR COE’s and other functions to deliver great service
  • Implement strategies for employee engagement and retention
  • Manage performance management processes
  • Ensure compliance with contract worker regulations
  • Maintain union contract compliance
  • Stay current with local laws and regulations compliance
  • Coach employees & supervisors to inspire and hold teams accountable

 

Qualifications and Competencies:       

  • College or university degree in HR
  • 3 to 5 years of pertinent experience
  • Experience in non-union and union environments
  • Knowledge of Labor Laws in Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
  • Professional HR title is an asset.

 

Other Required Skills:       

  • Good communication skills
  • Political acumen
  • Able to prioritize tasks and requests.

Physical Requirements and Constraints:        

  • Able to travel.
