Responsibilities and Expectations: 

We are seeking experienced Circuit Breaker Technicians to work in our climate controlled Breaker Shop. The Dallas Branch has one of the leading breaker shops in the region and is one of the cleanest, safest and well organized shops in the country.

  • Work on low & medium voltage circuit breakers, including GE, Westinghouse, Powell, ABB, ITE, etc.
  • Troubleshoot, rebuild, retrofit, test, and repair low, medium and high voltage switchgear to include the teardown and assembly of breakers, contactors and related switchgear and electrical apparatus, including:
    • High-voltage switchgear up to 3000A, SF-6 Vacuum Circuit Breakers ATS, 13.8kV, 60Hz and 11kV, 50H
    • Medium-voltage switchgear up to 3100A, Vacuum Circuit Breakers ATS, 34.5kV, 4.16kV, 60 Hz and 6/6kV, 50Hz
    • Low-voltage Switchgear up to 3000A, Air Circuit Breakers ATS, 480V, 60Hz and 400V, 50 Hz
  • Occasionally travel overnight to jobs sites for on-site breaker testing and repair.

Qualifications and Competencies: 

  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED; prefer electro-mechanical training from trade school, apprenticeship or armed services.
  • Must have a minimum of 2+ years of 480 volt to 25KV circuit breaker experience; or 5+ years of mechanical experience in an industrial, production or large component environment.
  • Prefer testing skills and understand fundamental electrical and mechanical testing procedures.
  • Experience at an OEM breaker manufacturer a plus.
  • Working knowledge of industrial mechanical engines, pneumatics, hydraulics, or diesel equipment beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of power systems, power circuit breakers and other switchgear apparatus desirable.
  • Must be able to correctly use tools and testing equipment including Megger, digital multimeter, Hi-Pot tester, Oil Dielectric strength tester, multiamps relay tester, primary & secondary injection set, cable fault detector, & oscilloscope.
  • Prefer experience reading and interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Prefer PEARL Certification or equivalent skills/experience to become PEARL Certified.
