Principal Responsibilities and Expectations: 

We are seeking a Regional Engineer Manager for the Florida Region, preferably located in the Tampa or Jacksonville area and skilled as an Electrical Engineer. The successful candidate will have experience with motor and/or generator design and /or repair supporting multiple service centers in Florida and Caribbean. This role demands a blend of deep technical expertise, leadership, professionalism and project management skills to drive the development and implementation of innovative repair services and electrical designs.  This position will be responsible for performing RCFA to develop engineered solutions and for providing technical support for both in-shop and field repairs, while also providing technical support and consultation to the regional sales team.

 

Unmatched Customer Service:

 

  • Actively participate in the IPS UCE tier meeting process – UCE1 and above
  • Provide electrical engineering and technical support to regional shops
  • Ensure that IPS solutions meet customer specifications, expectations, and applicable industry standards.
  • Assist with implementation of quality improvement actions
  • Ensure compliance with operating policies and procedures
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement Process Solution (CIPS) tools and Processes to deliver continued quality and productivity to our customers
  • Enforce strict safety protocols and compliance with regulatory requirements in all engineering and shop activities

Additional Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as the engineering manager and lead for all engineering work and disciplines within the Florida/Caribbean Region
  • Interface with customers, troubleshoot equipment problems, perform testing and measurements, generate reports
  • Provide technical support to the sales team, participate in customer visits, provide customer and sales training
  • Ensure that repairs meet customer specifications, expectations, and applicable industry standards
  • Provide guidance for technical capabilities and mitigating risk
  • Apply engineering science and technology to innovate for the industry. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design, production and repair of electrical rotating apparatus
  • Reverse engineer motor and generator designs at minimum back to OEM standards
  • Investigate equipment failures and perform RCA (Root Cause Analysis) leveraging stress analysis tools and processes
  • Drive development of electrical work motor repair instructions
  • Drafting, laying out, and specifying technical devices, parts, and equipment, providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to communicate how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used
  • Manage and support shop with capital improvements and integration of new capital manufacturing assets
  • Support regional shops with complex electrical and mechanical issues when needed
  • Educate and train customers, vendors and IPS technicians on motor/generator operating theory and repair processes
  • Actively participate by writing papers and attending industry conferences such as EASA or IEEE sponsored events (PPIC, PCIC. Etc)
  • Actively participate in Ultimate Customer Experience tiered meeting process

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

 

The successful candidate should possess 10+ years of experience with electrical motor design, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting in addition to the following qualifications:

  • Education:  B.S. or M.S. Electrical Engineering Degree preferred – open to other based on combination of degree and direct technical experience
  • License: Professional Engineer (PEng / PE) license preferred but not required
  • Strong Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering Principles: proficiency in applying principles of engineering, electrical engineering discipline, and advanced mathematics for analysis, design, and troubleshooting, specifically in the following areas:
    • Electromechanical Motor or Generator Design
    • Advanced diagnostic assessments to troubleshoot motor, generator and control issues with applicable test equipment
    • Fabrication, manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
    • Reverse engineering principles and process
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving techniques
    • RCFA to determine failure mode and FMEA’s
  • Management Skills: Proven ability to manage employees either directly or indirectly, mentoring other in similar disciplines, and work scope planning.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to drive innovations and successfully implement projects. Experience in supporting managers with project planning and leading teams from various technical backgrounds including other engineers and technicians.
  • Project Management: Competence in managing multiple projects across multiple sites simultaneously ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and within budget.  Ability to monitor and evaluate work at job sites as projects progress.
  • Communication Skills: Strong collaboration skills to work closely with other engineers and technicians, clearly explaining designs and reasoning.  Ability to relay instructions during product development, production, repair, and to explain complex issues to customers with little technical expertise.  Experience in reviewing new scope and providing feedback to sales team.
  • Writing Skills: Excellent technical writing skills to prepare reports and summaries to standards development, draft specifications and requirement documents, and provide status reports on projects.  The ability to make findings and specifications easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences is essential.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to design and develop intricate mechanical/electrical systems tracking multiple design elements and technical requirements throughout these processes.
  • Computer/Software: Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite and CAD
  • Travel: Must be willing to travel (up to 30%)
