Responsibilities & Expectations:
IPS – National Switchgear in Dallas is seeking a dedicated Inventory Specialist to maintain on-site inventory supporting our growing medium-voltage switchgear operations. This position is responsible for accurately picking, allocating, organizing, and stocking inventoried items while maintaining inventory control accuracy that reduces delays and improves customer responsiveness.
- Order Picking: Accurately pick, allocate, and apply serial numbers (if available) to inventoried items for orders.
- Order Accuracy: Verify orders against service center standards for accuracy and completeness, and make necessary changes when an order does not meet established standards.
- Stock Checks: Check stock for potential orders and notify the requesting party about the status of available stock.
- Put-Away: Place items in their correct location when not needed for an in-process order, and reassign items to inventory resulting from a customer return.
- Bin Management: Place newly purchased items in the correct bin location and maintain inventory on shelves and in bins in an orderly manner.
- Inventory Control: Notify the Inventory Control Lead about any inventory inaccuracies and support cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Organization: Ensure warehouse cleanliness and maintain locations housing inventory to uphold a neat and organized warehouse environment.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all departmental policies, procedures, quality objectives, and safety and environmental standards; comply with PPE requirements and report hazards.
- Support: Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior inventory, warehouse, or materials handling experience, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferred
- Mechanical aptitude preferred
- Basic computer and tablet skills, with the ability to enter and maintain accurate inventory records in an ERP or inventory management system
- Ability to read, interpret, and modify documents, including orders, packing slips, and bin locations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and firsthand experience with safe work environments
- Ability to lift, push, or pull items up to 70 lbs. and work occasional overtime
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an excellent driving record
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Heavy industrial facility with exposure to loud noise, heat, cold, and dust
- Requires standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and traversing uneven terrain for extended periods
- Evening, weekend, and occasional long hours may be required based on business needs
