Regional Project Engineer

Responsibilities & Expectations:

The Regional Project Manager will lead the development, implementation, and scaling of manufacturing capabilities for wheel motor assemblies used in large surface mining trucks. This role serves as the primary technical and operational liaison between Valenhold, IPS, and end customers, ensuring production readiness, product quality, and long-term reliability. The position requires strong leadership across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and customer engagement functions.

Technical Leadership & Program Management

  • Serve as the primary technical project manager and interface between Valenhold and IPS, ensuring alignment across engineering, manufacturing, and quality objectives.
  • Act as the technical interface between IPS and end users, supporting product performance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional project planning, execution, and reporting for manufacturing line implementation and product delivery.

Manufacturing Line Implementation

  • Design and implement new manufacturing lines/cells to produce drop-in replacement wheel motors using Valenhold components for large surface mining trucks in: Denver, CO, Edmonton, AB, and Tucson, AZ
  • Ensure manufacturing processes meet productivity, safety, cost, and quality targets.
  • Coordinate facility layout, tooling selection, workflow optimization, and capacity planning. Process Development & Workforce Training
  • Develop and document manufacturing work instructions in accordance with Valenhold and IPS standards.
  • Train technicians and production personnel to ensure consistent execution and adherence to quality requirements.
  • Establish standardized operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance across all facilites.

Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Create and implement in-process quality control documentation, inspection plans, and forms.
  • Develop and validate test methods, measurement processes, and verification checks to ensure product safety, quality, and performance.
  • Document non-conformances and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Implement and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies to drive process stability and improvement.

Reliability & Maintenance Engineering

  • Develop Predictive and Preventive Maintenance (PPM) procedures for Valenhold wheel motor assemblies.
  • Ensure maintenance strategies enhance product lifespan, reliability, and operational uptime for customers. Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
  • Establish and maintain strong technical relationships with key customer stakeholders.
  • Support customer-facing activities including:
  • Hosting open houses
  • Facilitating lunch-and-learn sessions
  • Participating in sales ride-alongs
  • Provide technical expertise to support sales growth, customer satisfaction, and after-market services.


Qualifications and Competencies:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field required.
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing, heavy equipment, mining, or electromechanical systems.
  • Proven experience implementing manufacturing lines or production cells in a multi-site environment.
  • Strong background in quality systems, testing, and process control (SPC). Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of large rotating equipment, electric motors, or drivetrain systems preferred.
  • Experience with failure analysis, root cause methodologies, and reliability engineering.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems, lean principles, and continuous improvement tools.

Leadership & Communication

  • Strong project management capabilities with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Customer-focused mindset with experience in technical sales support or field interaction. Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (Denver, Edmonton, Tucson, Valenhold and customer sites).
  • Ability to work in both office and industrial manufacturing environments.
